The Easy-Off remote control socket works through wireless communication.
The socket has a receiver built in that learns the automatically generated code from the remote control. On set up you allocate the socket to the channel number you wish to use on the remote control. This is simply done by holding down the button for a few seconds.
You can allocate just a single socket to each button, or you can have multiple sockets controlled by a single button on the remote control. Additionalsockets can be added later, also you can cancel any learnt codes and reallocate the socket to a different button at any time.
For the nightlight sockets (ES1005 only) the nightlight can be turned on and off by itself by sliding the control switch on the remote control to the light function. The socket does not have to be turned on for the nightlight to operate.
As the product uses radio frequency the socket and remote control do not have to be a straight line, and will work from up to 20 metres away and through walls and ceilings
Up to what distance will the remote control unit work from the socket.?
In an open space the distance will be over 20 metres. Through walls and ceilings the distance will be reduced. The actual distance will depend on the density of the walls, but in most standard houses the product will work through 1 or 2 walls quite easily.
I sometimes find the socket turns itself on and off without me pressing any buttons.?
This is caused by interference from other products using the same type of radio frequency. Occasionally when the socket is in learning mode it will pick up stray signals from other equipment (such as remote car keys) and learn these as well. The solution is to clear the existing codes from socket and then recode again as follows:
- Whilst the socket is off hold down the on/off button on the front of the socket for about 3 until the light flashes slowly.
- Press and hold the ALL OFF button on the remote control for about 3 seconds until the light on the SOCKET flashes quickly and then slowly again. The codes have now been cleared.
- Press the button on the remote control you wish to use to control the socket. Hold the remote control close to the socket whilst doing this. The socket is now re-coded.
How many sockets can I use with one remote control.?
There are 3 channels on the remote control unit. So if you wish to control each socket seperately then the answer is three. If you wish to control many sockets with one button then you can add as many sockets as you like. If you have a version without the nightlight socket then up to 6 individual sockets can be controlled. Simply slide the channel button across to the opposite channel group.
Is it possible to control a single socket with two different remote controls.?
The answer is yes. Set up your socket with the first?remote controller?in the normal way, then do the following:
